Came here with my son (27) to enjoy some Irish fare while a hockey team played a game on television. As we arrived my eye was immediately drawn to a CRT television in the corner of the room with "LD" fixed in the top left corner of the screen. I wondered who else had passed this screen without knowing the history of LaserDisc. My son, ever the fan of media formats from the past encouraged me to give an impromptu presentation on the format to himself and our friend Mickey Disco who is unstable.

After a history of disc based media in general, I began to regale them with tales of the high quality and enhanced Laserdisc players I had picked up on my many trips to Asia.

My son raised a solid point about PAL LD media and I reminded him that I had purchased a PAL player/recorder for the elusive recordable Laserdisc format and how as a child he had converted some home movies to Laserdisc via our NeXTStation.

As he began to think of his mother, Mickey Disco began to howl at the hockey game which had been playing the entire time. Leaving him to his strained worries, my son and I made our excuses and left to begin the first of this year's Chicago Fire rewatch sessions.

We must return and try some of the food on offer.

5 stars.
