The Asgard

Came here with my son (25) and his uncle Donald who was in town for Anime Boston. Donald dresses as a 45ft dragon and spits caramels at teenagers. It is the main character in a comic book he has been working on for the last 17 years but has yet to release more than a flyer promoting a long-stagnant Blogspot page.

Sadly we missed St. Patrick's Day by a couple weeks so my son suggested we hit up this Irish joint he'd seen on his bus route. Many MBTA buses terminate at University Park which is across the street. My son is compiling a list of MBTA trivia for a board game project we're working on. The game sees you play a fictional version of Rich Davey, former GM of the MBTA in charge of restoring the MBTA to a fictional hybrid of its 1984 glory years with a modern cash injection that allows you to open one new heavy rail and one new light rail line. Plus bonus: no Silver Line.

I had the vegetarian chili. Donald had a lamb burger. My son had a Guinness but did a fantastic recap of the first season of Law and Order: True Crimes including a well researched list of anachronisms. Donald tried to sell me on the benefits of upgrading to a Samsung Galaxy S5 but I'm sticking with my S3 which has recently been "pimped" out by installing a new battery and a new fake leather holster.

Drink refills were swift. 5 stars.
